A: The 8-24x25 is a zoom binocular, so it has a variable magnification 8 times the naked eye up through 24 times the naked eye. The 12x25 is a fixed magnification, always 12 times the naked eye.

A: the number after the X means the diameter in millimeters of the objective lenses(not eyepieces)the bigger the number the larger the binocular, and the more light the binocular will gather.

A: this is a great pairt for a cruise. the zoom capability allows you to zoom in on specific things up to 24 times the naked eye. This makes it very useful when looking at things from a cruise ship.

Q4: Is the Travelite tripod adaptable? Which tripod would you recommend? Are binoculars affected by heat say if left in a parked car?

A: The Travelite Compact Zoom is not tripod-adaptable, unfortunately. To get a tripod mount you pretty much need to get into a full-size binocular. Binoculars should do fine if left in the car. However, it would be well to keep them in the glove box, rather than on the dash or the rear ledge, where they get direct sunlight.

A: Nikon did make a model 7474 Travelite V zoom binocular that was identical to the #7512 in all respects. The #7474 has been discontinued, however, and is no longer available.

Q7: Do these have rubber around the exit pupils to prevent scratches to eyeglasses?

A: Yes, Nikon 8-24x25 Travelite V Zoom binoculars have rubber eyecups. However, eye relief is not sufficient for viewing while wearing most eyeglasses.

Q8: Are these water and fog proof?

A: No. The Nikon Travelite binoculars are not waterproof.
